Connect the Stacklist MCP to your AI assistant

Give Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini a direct line to your Stacklist data — create stacks, run AI discoverability checks, and batch-enrich cards from a single conversation.

TL;DR — for developers

  • Connect via OAuth — no API keys to manage; authenticate with your Stacklist account.

  • Works with Claude (Web / Desktop), ChatGPT, and Gemini CLI.

  • 29 tools — cards, stacks, search, AI analysis, profile, workspaces. Free accounts supported.

You can ask your AI assistant to search the web for the best co-working spaces in Austin, create a new stack called "Austin Co-Working Spaces," add the top ten as cards with descriptions, and tag each one — all in a single conversation. That's what the Stacklist MCP gives you.

What the MCP is

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect directly to the tools you already use. The Stacklist MCP server is the live connection between your AI assistant and your Stacklist account.

Once connected, the assistant can chain multi-step workflows — research, create, analyze, optimize — all without leaving the conversation.

Works with any Stacklist account, including free ones.

What you can do with it

A few real examples:

  • Research and create in one shot. "Search the web for the best co-working spaces in Austin, create a stack called 'Austin Co-Working Spaces,' add the top 10 as cards with descriptions, then generate tags for each one."

  • Profile strategy. "Review my featured stacks, check AI discoverability on each, and suggest which ones to feature to maximize visibility."

  • Analyze and fix. "Run an AI discoverability check on my 'Travel Gear' stack. If the score is below 80, apply the suggested improvements and regenerate the summary."

  • Batch and enrich. "Here are 15 URLs I bookmarked this week. Add them to my 'Reading List' stack, auto-tag each card, enrich them with images, and generate an updated FAQ for the stack."

  • AI content generation. "Look at my 'Best Restaurants in Nashville' stack and generate a summary I can share. Then create a new stack called 'Nashville Travel Guide,' search the web for top attractions, and add the best results as cards."

Supported AI assistants

  • Claude — web and Desktop

  • ChatGPT

  • Gemini CLI

Mobile versions of these assistants don't currently support MCP. Use desktop or web.

What the MCP can access

The server exposes 29 tools across five categories:

  • Content management (8 tools) — create and manage cards, stacks, and collections

  • Search and discovery (5 tools) — find content across your Stacklist account and the web

  • AI analysis (7 tools) — discoverability checks, stack summaries, FAQ generation, content improvements

  • Profile management (5 tools) — review and optimize your public profile

  • Workspace management (3 tools) — account and organizational settings

How to connect

  1. Open your AI assistant's settings and find the MCP or integrations section.

  2. Add a new MCP server and paste the URL.

  3. Authenticate with your Stacklist account when prompted.

Once connected, start a conversation and tell your assistant what to do.

Claude (Web and Desktop)

In Claude's settings, add a new integration using the server URL above. Authenticate, and the tools become available in any conversation.

ChatGPT

In ChatGPT's settings, add the Stacklist MCP under MCP Servers / Connectors. Paste the server URL, authenticate, and the tools appear in conversations.

Gemini CLI

Gemini CLI accepts MCP servers in its config. Add the Stacklist server URL and authenticate per Gemini CLI's standard MCP setup.

FAQ

Do I need a paid Stacklist account? No. The MCP works with any Stacklist account, including free ones.

Is my data shared with the AI provider? When your AI assistant reads or modifies Stacklist data through the MCP, that data passes through the assistant's context — same as any information you share in a conversation. Review your AI provider's privacy policy for how they handle conversation data.

Can I disconnect the MCP? Yes. Remove the Stacklist server from your AI assistant's MCP settings any time. Disconnecting immediately revokes the assistant's access to your account.

Does this work on mobile? Not yet. MCP support in mobile AI apps is limited. Use Claude or ChatGPT on desktop / web, or Gemini CLI in a terminal.

I connected but the assistant can't find my data — what now? First, confirm you authenticated with the correct Stacklist account. Then try a specific prompt like "list my stacks" or "search my cards for 'reading list'." If it still fails, disconnect and reconnect the MCP in your assistant's settings.
