Added a custom domain but it isn't showing your Stacklist page yet? Use this article to understand what Stacklist is telling you, fix the most common problems, make your page open without www, and change or remove a domain.
Haven't set up your domain yet? Start with Set up a custom domain.
What the labels mean
To see what Stacklist found, open Custom Domains in your settings. Your domain shows one of these labels:
Action needed: Stacklist is still waiting on one or more lines.
Live: you're all set. Your page opens at your own address, with the secure lock icon.
Not reachable: almost there. On Cloudflare, one of your lines is still on the orange cloud.
Expand your domain, and each line also tells you what Stacklist found:
Found: this line is all set.
Not seen yet: Stacklist can't see it yet. It may still be on its way.
A different value is published: the line is there, but the value doesn't match. Stacklist shows what it found and what it expected, so you can fix it.
An A record is set where a CNAME belongs: delete that line at your domain company, then add the CNAME line from Stacklist.
Note: After you fix something, click Recheck status to check again right away. You can do this once a minute.
Fix common problems
To fix a domain that isn't working yet, find what you're seeing below.
Still Not seen yet after an hour. Check that you typed only the short name (no doubled domain, like
content.stacklistdemo.com.stacklistdemo.com), and that you added the lines at the company that actually manages your domain.A different value is published. Edit the line at your domain company so it matches Stacklist exactly. Delete any older line with the same name.
Not reachable. On Cloudflare, set each CNAME line to DNS only (grey cloud). Ignore any Cloudflare banner asking you to turn proxying on.
An orange Set this CNAME record to DNS only message, but your cloud is already grey. You can ignore it. It goes away once your domain is live.
Your domain company won't accept a line. Some companies won't let you add a line for a domain without a subdomain. See the next section.
Stacklist says the domain is already connected. Remove the domain, then add it again.
Still stuck? Send us a message with a screenshot of your DNS settings page, and we'll help you sort it out.
Make your page open without www
To make your page open when people type just stacklistdemo.com, without the www, it depends on your domain company. This only applies if you connected a domain with no subdomain in front.
Cloudflare: it works on its own. Your page can live at
stacklistdemo.com.GoDaddy: your page lives at
www.stacklistdemo.com. Add a forward so people who leave off the www still get there (steps below).Amazon Route 53: your page lives at
www.stacklistdemo.com. Route 53 can't forward, so typing it without the www won't open your page.Other companies: add the www lines Stacklist shows. If your company also accepts the line for the domain without www, add that too. If it won't, set up a forward instead.
To set up the forward on GoDaddy:
Go to Domain Settings, then Forwarding, then Add.
Forward to
https://www.stacklistdemo.com, using your own domain.Choose Permanent (301).
Turn on forwarding with the path, so all your links keep working.
People who type your domain without the www now land on your Stacklist page.
Note: On GoDaddy or Amazon Route 53, the version without www keeps saying pending in Stacklist, even when the www version works. That's normal.
Change or remove your domain
To point your domain at something else, remove it, then add it again with your new choice. To remove a domain:
Open Custom Domains in your settings and click your domain.
Click Remove domain.
Click Delete to confirm.
Your domain is no longer connected to Stacklist. If you connected a domain without a subdomain, the www version is removed too. You can also delete the lines you added at your domain company.
